Obituary
At her residence in The Foyer Richelieu on Tuesday November 4th , 2008, Mrs Rita Thomson of Welland in her 79th year.
Cherished mother of Theresa Groulx (Marcel) of Welland. Dear sister of Yvette Menicanin (late George), David Groulx (Mary), and Lorette Marion (Don O'Bireck) all of Welland. Mrs. Thomson will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Paul, Ron (Shannon), Danny (Kelly) and Nikki (Rob) as well as her Great Grandchildren Brandon, Andrew, Abigail and Emily. She was predeceased by her parents Alderic and Melvina Groulx, her first husband Louis Holmes and second husband James Thomson, her daughter Lorraine Scott and her brothers Euclide (Jack), Theodore (Ted) and Lucien (John).
Rita was an RPN Graduate in 1966 and one of the first nurses to walk the halls of the Welland County General Hospital. She was also a member of the Filles D'Isabelle.
Funeral Details
The family will receive their relatives and friends at the Welland Funeral Home, 827 East Main Street Welland, on Thursday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 am in Église Sacré Coeur. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. A vigil for Rita will be celebrated on Thursday at 8:30pm. If desired donations to The Foyer Richelieu would be greatly appreciated by the family.
