Barry Duchesne

Obituary of Barry Duchesne

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Barry” Duchesne on Monday, March 11, 2024, at the age of 77. Beloved brother to Jack (Marg) and David (Maura). Barry had a special bond with his niece and nephews Tara, Patrick, and Christopher. He will also be missed by Roxanne, Trevor, Shannon, Mary-Catharine, Michael, Joanne, and Theresa. And will forever be in the heart of his special friend Laminesa. Dear brother-in-law of Paul Toth.   Predeceased by his parents, Theodor & Janet (née Payne), his siblings Terrence & Suzanne, and his niece & nephew Cheryl and Theodore.

Barry loved spending time with his family, and he adored his mother immensely, cherishing her deeply prior to her passing. His generous spirit led him to help countless individuals, volunteering at the library to teach English. Barry began his professional journey at the age of 19, working at the CIBC in Welland, Ridgway, and Windsor. Over the years, he transitioned to Stelco Credit Union, where he made significant contributions before retiring as a respected manager and member of the board of directors at the Golden Horseshoe Credit Union Limited in Hamilton.

The Duchesne family will receive family and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main Street, Welland, on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral service will be held at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 10 a.m. Internment will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family.
